TrekCore have the scoop again!
More than any other Trek news site out there, these guys seem to be in the know – or at the very least, on the ball when it comes to reporting on Star Trek Beyond.
It’s funny, a year, maybe two years ago, these guys were mostly known for their screencaps and in particular their amazing series of rare behind the scenes photos and production stills as well as excellent novel reviews. Most of the breaking news about a Star Trek film or production of any kind would come via sites like TrekMovie, io9, Blastr or Airlock Alpha. Now, it’s TrekCore all the way.
This time, the guys have another three new stories available for our reading pleasure:
The first article is pretty generic, with no spoiler stuff. It’s an interview with Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban on a popular Dubai Entertainment show – ‘Scoop With Raya’. Because the show is region blocked most of us in Australia and the United States can’t watch it, so TrekCore have transcribed the whole thing. If you’d like to check it out, click here.
The second article is a little more spoilery. It shows a number of video and still photography shots of filming as it happens at the base of the massive Jumeirah Lake Towers complex. It appears a number of the employees working in the building have been making good use of the cameras on their smartphones!
This article is spoilery because it shows a lot of shots from a crowd scene being played out at the base of the building, and some pretty close up images of the new uniforms. To check it out, click here.
The final article, that just went live on TrekCore’s site, is pretty spoilery and features some stuff about the USS Yorktown and shows us the clearest pictures of the new uniforms that we’ve seen to date. Take a look by clicking here. In the first image, Chris Pine is acting in the new uniform opposite an unknown female actor across a futuristic desk.
I’ve got to admit, I’m a little confused. We’ve seen Spock and Scotty in the new uniforms that are an altered version of the Starfleet uniforms the crew have worn for the past two movies – and we’ve seen Chekov and Kirk in what look like Away Mission uniforms… but this is the first time we’ve seen a major cast member in the new uniform designs that have been popping up since the location shifted to Dubai.
It will be interesting to see what’s going on with all of these costume changes.
