The Hollywood Times, TrekCore, and ScienceFiction.com are reporting that Joe Taslim, known for his roles in Fast & Furious 6 and The Raid: Redemption has joined the cast of Star Trek Beyond alongside Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella. Not a lot (to next to nothing) is known about the characters these three newcomers to Star Trek are playing, except that Idris plays the new big bad, and rumours are Joe’s character is most likely one of his henchmen.
Joe Taslim is an accomplished martial artist, and it would be logical to assume he’s going to bring some nifty moves to the new Trek film.

It’s an interesting and diverse supporting cast director Justin Lin is assembling for the latest film. Sofia Boutella is a well known dancer, and with Joe along for the ride it might be fair to say we can expect some dazzling stunt work and one-on-one action pieces come July 8 next year.
The additions of Elba, Boutella and Taslim have me pretty excited. The third Trek film in the Abramsverse seems to be shaping up nicely!
